What an NSGP Application Involves
NSGP applications require a site-specific vulnerability assessment and clear documentation of threats, vulnerabilities, consequences, and proposed security improvements. VYKEN provides a structured, scored assessment designed to support that preparation.
FEMA does not mandate any single assessment methodology — self-assessments, law-enforcement assessments, and outside-contractor assessments are all acceptable. What the NSGP Readiness Assessment Includes

- Investment Justification cross-reference — a map showing which parts of your assessment support each section of the NSGP Investment Justification.
- State-format alignment — documentation prepared with the applicable State Administering Agency's current requirements in mind. Where a state publishes a prescribed vulnerability-assessment worksheet or format, such as California, the engagement is scoped to the version applicable to that grant cycle.

Organizations operating more than one physical location require custom scoping. Current FEMA and state guidance generally calls for location-specific vulnerability assessments and application documentation for each physical site. VYKEN therefore prepares separate, attributable assessment materials by location while reusing organization-level information only where factually appropriate.

NSGP Isn’t Only for Houses of Worship
The Nonprofit Security Grant Program provides security funding opportunities for eligible nonprofit organizations that can demonstrate a heightened risk of terrorist or other extremist attack, subject to the applicable FEMA notice of funding opportunity and State Administering Agency requirements. FEMA materials identify a range of potentially eligible organization types, including houses of worship, educational and medical institutions, museums, community and senior centers, day camps, and other nonprofit organizations.
